We are an event-centered chapter, so board members must be willing to take part in event management and planning. If you share our passion and are interested in putting your talents to work, we are searching for driven individuals for the following positions immediately.

Positions Available:

  • Director of Visual Communication
    We’re looking for someone whose genuine passion for great design and effective communication runs deep; quite literally, a designer’s designer. Director of Visual Communication will serve as steward of the AIGA Nebraska brand, coordinate community volunteers to collaborate on event branding, and work with Directors of Communication, Social Media, and Web Content to market the organization.
  • Director of Partnership
    Without the Director of Partnership, many of our events would not be possible. The responsibilities of this position include: reaching out to potential sponsors to fund our events, fostering our current partnership relationships, managing the sponsorship database, and ensuring every event has sufficient sponsorship. This person must feel comfortable emailing, calling, and possibly visiting potential sponsors.
  • Director of Operations
    Coordinate with the President to develop an agenda before each Board meeting. Provide a check-and-balance system for the chapter’s financial records. Compile and format financial and programming records from each event and ensure the appropriate information is submitted to the national organization and the local Web Director in a timely manner. Maintain volunteer rolls; coordinate with event chairs for assignment of volunteers. Maintain chapter’s post office box.
  • Show Co-Chair
    We’re looking for someone with exceptional event management skills and a design focus or interest. Show Co-Chair will be learning the ropes of Show, the largest design competition in Nebraska, then take over as Director of Show beginning 2018.

Board FAQs

Do I need to be a designer?
Heck no. You just need to be passionate about serving the Nebraska community.

Do I need previous board experience?
Absolutely not. Although experience doesn’t hurt, we are more than willing to teach you the ropes of board life.

What’s the time commitment?
The time commitment varies depending upon your position and what you make of it. However, you should be able to devote a few hours every week to your position, in addition to attending monthly board meetings and AIGA Nebraska events.

How long are board members expected to serve?
Typically a board member’s term is two years, but can vary based on the position.

Can I put this on my resume?
Absolutely! And it will look very good there.

What are the typical duties expected of a board member?
Every member will have duties specific to their position, but all board members must attend ten board meetings per year plus the annual local board retreat in August. Expect to attend several AIGA events throughout the year including all the big ones. You must participate in event planning and check board email and Slack regularly.
