AIGA Summer Series: Calligraphy

With Cheryl Dyer

A beginner's look into the tools and technique of copperplate calligraphy using pointed pen nibs, oblique holders and ink. After a brief look at the history of this lettering form, we'll talk tools and method and then proceed onto learning our letters. Students will leave with a introductory grasp on this art form that is currently enjoying a renaissance. Tools, supplies and exemplar booklet included in class cost.

Whether you're interested in traditional calligraphy forms or "modern calligraphy" the study of historically based forms gives you the freedom to launch into more modern and personalized styles, if you so choose, with better hand control and visual skill. If you're interested in continuing your calligraphy education Cheryl will be offering a class at Bench in August entitled "Developing your own Modern Calligraphy Script" (pre-req: Intro to Pointed Pen Calligraphy)

Snacks, beverages and fun will be served!
