Meet Your Board:
Director of Records | June 2015 – present
Why did you join AIGA?
I went back to school for graphic design and while there I was asked to lead the AIGA MCC Student group. I became a member, helped organized student events and eventually attended AIGA Nebraska events too. I met a ton of amazing people in my community that I never would have known if not for AIGA.
What inspires you?
Conversation, feedback, subtle details, and solid design choices.
Social media channels, people I follow on Instagram, and my kids. Watching a good documentary or even instructional videos on YouTube.
How do you AIGA?
I AIGA by serving on the board, helping in any way I can at pillar events like Barcamp, SHOW, etc. Talking to young designers or students and asking them to volunteer at AIGA Nebraska events.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I don’t have any free time, but other things that I try to get into are hand lettering, backyard bbq, Netflix, learning guitar, woodworking, going to concerts, and checking out new places with my family.
What advice do you have for emerging creatives?
Be the kind of person that you want to talk to, share with, and encourage. Be nice to people and try not to compare yourself to others because usually you’re just comparing your worst to someone else’s best. Sometimes 90% of ability is availability…be willing to help and offer your creative solutions.
