What will happen during the workshop?
Jim's bringing a collection of vintage typographic and pictorial wood blocks from the Hatch archives and will work directly with workshop participants to explore the creative layout and design potential of these historical artifacts. Those attending the workshop will produce multiple monoprints utilizing authentic Hatch blocks.
Come ready to get inky (best to wear some old clothes and take home some printed "souvenirs" on them!), to learn about the combined history of commercial letterpress printing, advertising, design and Hatch itself, plus spend some quality time with the current heart of Hatch Show Print ;^)

Not familiar with Jim or with Hatch Show Print?
Jim Sherraden has been creating original artwork based on Hatch Show Print's shop archives since 1992. A Kansas native and Nashville resident since 1977, Sherraden joined forces with Hatch in 1984. Sherraden helped revive the store's past success by concentrating on its poster production and revisiting the imaginative method of letterpress printing.
Located in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, Hatch Show Print is owned and operated by the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum and today produces work for a wide variety of clients including musicians, record labels and cultural arts organizations.
You can find out more about Jim here and about the history of Hatch here.
