Life after school. Finally getting paid for it. The Big Time.
You’ve probably thought, “Sounds great, but where will I find work?” or “When I find a job, how will I know if it’s the right one for me?” or even, “Do I really want to work for someone else or should I try to go it alone?”
AIGA Nebraska has gathered a diverse group of professionals to talk with you about their daily life as working designers. Each individual represents one of four familiar design environments:
+ The Agency
+ The In-House Design Department
+ The Independent Design Firm
+ Life as a freelancer
So now you’re asking, “That’s super, body-copy voice, but how the heck will I know which panel to sit with?”
Easy. We’ll have you fill out a quick survey whose results will connect you with designers who share the most in common with you. You’ll meet designers who are just a year or two out of school as well as those with seasoned experience as art directors, managers and even business owners.
Pull up a slice of pizza and join our sixteen guest panelists in talking about how they made the move from design student to design professional. Swap questions and answers with them about where they work, what they do, how they got there and what you can do to connect with a design environment like the one they currently work in.
Oh yeah, and it’s all free.
For those interested in an MMD09 “bonus round” opportunity, several of the panelists will also be offering portfolio reviews after the panel discussions.
Bring you, yourself and your design on Saturday, March 21 for feedback on what you’ve been up to by the people you could end up working for in your design future. Portfolio reviews will begin at 1:15 PM and run until 2:30 PM, starting just after our pizza lunch.
Your yesterday, today and tomorrow having pizza together and talking about life in design.
